The Game
The game was begun on December 11, 2000 by myself and my friend Mike Wakerly. Its aim is to broaden our musical horizons while at the same time expanding our CD collections. Here are the rules:
- Concept
The players will exchange CD albums that they believe the other will like. Singles are not acceptable.
- Knowledge
There are no hints. The selection and the date of arrival/purchasing will be a surprise.
- Frequency
Monthly. There is no specified interval, but the CD must be accessible within the month.
- Transmission
CDs must be exchanged via shipment. (i.e. Hand delivering of CDs is not acceptable in order to preserve the postal surprise.) Delivery via an alternate method is acceptable only if absolutely necessary to fulfill the other rules.
- Price
Price is not considered. Each album is to be taken unto itself.
- Pirating
CDs must be legitimate. Burned albums are unacceptable.
- Scoring
- (+1) The choice blows you away. Anything about the album which makes it really special could qualify it for this honor. A plus one denotes extreme excellence.
- (0) The choice doesn't particularly strike you as fantastic. It's not bad, but doesn't deserve a +1. You could see how someone would like it, or how you could grow to enjoy it.
- (-1) The choice is immature, or the selection is just bad all around.
- (-2) If a player misses a shipment, they are penalized with two demerits.
Justifications for scoring are always required.
- Ammending the Rules
This may occur as the game progresses, but only at the agreement of both players.
Any disagreement as to these rules should be resolved by reviewing the original chat.
